Kraken faced his men. The stunned expressions made him want to laugh. He stood with Cousin at his side, holding her hand. He didn’t need to look to know she gazed at him, a smile on her lips. The black staff tapped against his leg. “Any takers!”
Bry came forward. “I would if she fancied me.” He shrugged. “If she wants you, I give you my blessings.” Bry swept into an elaborate bow with one leg extended. His wild hair hung over his face.
Kor snorted. Frick and Ollie guffawed. Several others coughed. A hysterical snicker wound its way around the deck.
Cousin blinked. “Blessings?”
“Aye,” Bry said, straightening, his face serious.
“Been practicing courtly graces with Matty?” Tuggy asked Bry.
Bry shrugged, and swept his bow before him in another graceful bow, an arrow ready to be drawn.
Arguments bounced around the deck.
Kraken leaned in and kissed Cousin’s check. “Just look at the family we chose.”
