Gabb stood at the helm, Kraken on one side, Cousin on the other. Cousin’s power flowed. Her hair billowed around her, a deep forest veil . Haven answered her will. The cave mouth came into view, a huge gaping maw in a shear cliff face with trailing vines reaching for the ocean waves.
“It’s smaller than I remember,” Gabb said.
“No. We’ll be fine,” Kraken said. “Cousin, can you put us in aft-ward?”
Haven turned. The crew watched the ship glide into the cave with more than enough clearance on all sides. Haven settled, and Cousin slumped to her knees. Her hair floated down around her as her power ebbed.
Kraken knelt beside her, and brushed the hair from her face. The glow of power in her eyes was diffused like sunlight through the ocean. “Can you stand?”
Cousin leaned into him, and tried to move. She fell. “Far. Too far to see,” she said. Cousin closed her eyes and slept.
